Rip Van Sprinkle
This week I feel like I walked straight out of the pages of Washington Irving's story. Life has been a-whirl outside my door while I've been caught in a time warp inside. But! We're all finally on the road to recovery (with the exception of Mike, who is The Bubble Boy for now).
Tomorrow is a big day; the suspense will end on two counts:
1) IT'S ULTRASOUND DAY! Mike and I are taking the kids with us to see it because they are all old enough that I think it will be a fun memory for them. We can't wait. Isabelle, in particular, has been counting down the days for about 10 days now. I went to help in her classroom today and her teacher said to me--first thing--"So I hear tomorrow is the big day at the doctor's," with a bemused look on her face. Sister Bear has been excited to give her teacher all the baby's milestone announcements: This week it's as big as a red pepper (her favorite vegetable--she loved hearing that particular comparison), this week it's growing a spine, this week it's got the fingers all the way grown, etc, etc.
2) I am going in for an interview with the 2nd counselor of our bishopbric to, presumably, get a new calling. For the ending of this suspense, I am not so excited. I love my present calling of teaching the 8 year olds in primary--especially because cute little Isabelle is in my class and it's her baptism year. I have only been in primary a year and I am hoping not to be released because I will really miss it. I've especially loved watching my own children in primary. Mimi is so exuberant in her front-row seat with the Sunbeams. She waves her hand high in the air to answer any and all questions, not having a clue how to answer most of them. She's bounded up to the podium a few times to say prayers, recite Articles of Faith and give impromptu testimony on Fast Sundays. It's been so fun to observe this part of their little lives. *sigh*
I also plan to post a montage of my favorite pictures and quotes of President Hinckley later this week, for my personal rememberance and for my kids to look at later. Because we've all been so sick with flu, I've not yet felt up to compiling my thoughts and feelings in a coherent manner. We just watched the funeral tonight for Family Home Evening (thank you, tivo!) and there are a few cute little things I need to jot down about that that I'll want to remember later. I think I'll do this tomorrow.
This is a busy week for me--in a good way. I've got the ultrasound appointment tomorrow, get Max to-and-from Scouts, a church appointment in the evening, helping with the Teacher's Luncheon Wednesday & Thursday, babysitting swap at my house Wednesday, doing the take-home reading Thursday and all of the regular schedule in between. So--goodnight!

Gosh, I'm tired just looking at your week. Have fun tomorrow. I loved that big ultrasound appointment. How cool for the kids to go to!
Ooooh. Make sure you tell us right away.
Do the kids know it's going to look like skeletor? Mine were a little surprised.
The suspense is killing me- you better give us all kinds of pics tomorrow. What are you guys thinking it is? And is it already time to find out? Pregnancy goes so much faster when it's not your own!
P.s. Bad news- check out my latest post. Shed a tear for me.
♥ That is a crazy week! Glad you guys are all feeling better. ♥
I told my primary president that I am not going to let them release me until the end of the year. Think that will work? I love my callings. I teach the 10-12 year olds on sunday (Merry Miss to me) and I really like that this year is Book of Mormon. I want to stay with those girls the entire year. Plus I am Activity Day Leader and that is just plain fun! Especially with Samantha in there.
Plus my kids are all in primary together for the last time. Jaden is 12 in Aug. and will graduate to Young Mens. I realized this was the last time to see them all sitting in that little room together and it brought a tear to my eye.
Sounds like a very busy week. Can't wait to hear about Lima Bean she or he.
whoohoo! yay for the ultrasound! and taking the kids with ya! very exciting stuff! and so cute mimi is so excited in primary.
i have missed you! i'm glad most of you are feeling better.
i can't wait to hear about the kids reactions to the ultrasound. fun!!
Sounds like a lot of excitement! Please keep us posted...
Wow, you have been crazy busy! I can't wait to find out pink or blue!!
Can't wait to find out what you're having!!!!
I was at the grocery store last night and saw Valentine Sprinkles and guess who I started thinking about - YOU!
Fun times tomorrow for you and your family! I remember how excited we always were to find out the sex of the baby!
A new calling? Scary! I finally got released from being in primary after about 7 years...primary to me is THE BEST PLACE TO BE!!! To my surprise I am actually loving my new calling - VTing Coordinator. You should try to campaign for that yourself! For me personally, since I was in primary for so long this is a great way for me to instantly know all the sisters in ward!
Yeah,ultrasound! I have 2 more weeks. I'll be watching for a post :)
I'm excited to find out about your calling, my guess is YW--you're just too fun to stay out of there for very long.
Glad you're family is feeling better, we've been hit too. Cold weather and colds are so depressing.
Sounds like it'll be super duper Tuesday for you! Can't wait to hear all the news.
p.s. I love it - "Rip Van Sprinkle".
wow, what a week! can't wait to hear about the baby, you're right, the kids will love that!
what a busy week!
i can't wait to hear the good news
glad things are looking up over there.
it has been a little less sunny without your comments and wit!
I'm excited to find out what you are having too, even though I don't know you well. Always a fun time during pregnancy. What are you hoping for? That's probably a dumb question since you probably know what it is by now.
I'll be excited to see your post about it!!
Yay- good luck today at the doctors! We loved taking the kids to the various ultrasounds, except when they cried (M when he found out it was a girl, and then Miss A when she found out C was a boy). Other than that it was great :)
I've been missing you! Thanks for the catch-up! (I'm voting girl) oh, and (nursery leader).
wow! That sounds like fun Crystal! I hope that the doctor knows where babies come from. (And I hope you're having a little boy...tee hee)
sorry you've had the flu too. I've been MISERABLE. I would rather dance on a table in my floozy jacket than have the flu. Hopefully you're all better so you can tackle your whole busy week.
I teach primary too--our ward is really small so I teach anyone from 3-8. I have 3 kids in my class 1 of which is mine. My littlest (she's 5)likes to raise her hand to answer questions too and usually says "the Gospel" or "Jesus" figuring she has a pretty good chance of getting it right! LOL
Ultrasound day! How exciting! Let us know right away!! Before anyone else!
Sorry everyone has been so sick. The Bubble Boy comment made me giggle though. Sorry Mike.
Isaac and Gracie loved to hear about what size vegetable or fruit Evie was every week too. They laughed like hyenas when they heard she was only as big as a grape. I think I cried a little.
Oh, and tell Isabelle she has FANTASTIC taste in veggies.
Too fun that your children are old enough to take part in the ultrasound! When I took my then-2-year-old, she was more fascinated with the goop on my stomach. :-)
I cannot wait to hear what your little Lima bean is!
My youngest sister found out yesterday that she is having a girl. She has one boy who is 3.
What an exciting week! So much going on for you and I look forward to your montage post - will be really neat!
Wow coming out of your Rip Van Winkleness into a doozy of a busy week!
Can't wait to hear about your appointment--how exciting to have your whole fam. with you.
Wow girl, you are busy busy! I'm glad to hear most everyone is better!
Yay, I'm SO excited to find out what you're having!!! Yay Yay!!! Can't wait!!
I'm excited to hear the results of the ultrasound! How exciting! And good luck with the new calling...?... too! Hopefully it's something else you will love just as much. :)
so? how'd the ultrasound go?
what are you having?
tell me ! tell me! tell me!
popped over to see what the big news is then i realized that weds. is a busy day for you!!
do tell when you can.
when we took cass to the ultrasound appt she was not impressed. at all. in fact, when she found out ellie was a girl, she promptly announced "i am ready to go"
she really wanted ellie to be a boy. she had it all planned out. she still harbors some feelings i think...
The suspense is killing me!?!?! Post about the ultrasound already.
Oh yeah and what is your new calling? Hopefully you aren't a den leader. That's what I am right now and lets just say it's more work than I thought!
31 comments! Are you kidding me?! I'm lucky to get 6! You must feel loved. I guess I make 32. Wow, I'm in awe.
When are you going to post about your exciting news from yesterday? Can't wait to hear!!
How exciting! I'm sure your kids are so thrilled your taking them. Now, isn't the 2nd counselor in charge of Young Woman's? You'll hafta let us know!
Have fun at the appointment tomorrow- I love that your whole family is going!
Take care and get better--I'm thought I was tired until I read how busy you are....wow. and pregnant too--you are a rock star!
I love ultrasound day. How fun, can't wait to hear what you're having.
I hope everything goes well at the Dr. and you get a calling that will be just as fun as primary. Being prego is a blessing because hopefully they won't give you anything hard like......RS Pres, Primary Pres or something like that. I'm guessing...............librairian. And if you get that I will be so jealous!! That's my dream job!
What an exciting day! I'm anxious to hear what your having and what your new calling is.
Crystal,
How are you girl?? Other than you are busy as can be, I miss you!!! I can't wait to hear about your baby, um yah, didn't even know you were pregnant so a very big congrats to you. Jake says to tell Mike hi. I would love to catch up sometime, check out our blog, www.murphy04.blogspot.com. We are just getting the hang of this, so dang fun. Hope things are good, thinking of you. Amy
Come on I can't wait, what did the ultrasound say!!!! waiting on the edge of my seat!!!
lOVE the name! so appropriate for you!
do something interactive with Mimi in the morning (oh please, for the love of all that's holy, let it not be Polly Pocket)
This is my favorite part of your
comment. For possible plot lines
watch General Hospital. There will
be all sorts of intrigue inserted into your doll playing.
Oh, the BRILLIANCE, Jill!!! I never thought of using the soaps for Polly Plotlines!
This is good. This is very good.
My mind is spinning with possibilities: "24," "Lost" (that one may stress me out too much), "Dancing With the Stars."
Genius, I tell you!!!!
I think you should start your
own website of possible Polly
Pocket plot lines. There are
probably a lot of people out there
searching....................
p.s. if you can't sleep I think
you try a mantra, Jill Rules... Jill Rules.....Jill Rules......i'll give her mimi....
Jill Rules.........(trust me it
will lull you right to sleep)
