Today the highlight of my day was......huh. I'm drawing a blank. Definitely not the 45 minutes of cleanup after making sugar cookies with the kiddos. At 9:30pm. And I thought the actual making of the cookies would be Christmas-y and fun, but Isabelle and Mimi were both very whiny and dissatisfied--I think they are both getting sick. Well, I know they are, but I've been trying to block it out. (In the infamous words of my mom, "Can't they choose to be well?") Max stayed home sick today & I accused him of semi-faking it, but when Isabelle came home with her dry-hack cough I had to admit that he may indeed have a bug. They are, all three of them, walking, oozing balls of mucus. So we made cookies, did the bedtime drill (which included children's Nyquil--yessss), I cleaned up & then did what any sensible, logical, prudent no-nonsense woman would do.
Lit out for Chili's like a bat outta hell.
I met my girls there and didn't even bother with the chocolate shot--I dove straight into steak quesadillas. (Does that count as my free day? If so, how will I survive without my weekly brie-&-pears?)And now it is 1:25am. Hmmmm. Tomorrow is gym day. How will I be gymalicious with only 4 hours of sleep? (i'm still loving your word, Jill; I think you should trademark "gymalicious.")
***(also stay tuned for the sugar cookie recipe & tomorrow's
baking delight; I'm homebound with a car in the shop, so the flour's gonna fly!)

Don't you hate it when our perfectly planned bonding time with the kiddos doesn't go as planned. Love the cookies, that's the most sprinkles I've ever seen on one cookie!!!
mmmm sprinkles and oozing balls of mucus in the same post. gotta love it!!
i bet you do get up and hit the gym!! you rock!
K, I'm exhausted after reading that post...I'm not sure why, but I am. I like to bake, but I don't think I could keep up with you! And how do you not eat everything you make? So did you make it to the gym? You know we're dying to know!
This is how things usually go around here. Not quite as we planned them. Thankfully you got to get out and have a little girl time.
Here's hoping all the sickies don't get you down today!!
Ooooh, I hate getting sick right before Christmas! It seems like all my kids do that every year! And it's starting again! Maybe we can all get over it by Christmas this year, instead of being full blown in the middle of it!
Love your snow! That was beautiful! Love the pictures, and what fun you had!
Yes, sometimes the things we imagine in our heads don't always translate well to the little people. So sorry they might be catching the Bug!
I'd like to make sugar cookies that your can roll our and cut, but stay soft after baking (same with the gingerbread)--never quite found the ideal recipe. I also plan on making little gumdrop trees today--you are a wealth of great ideas!!!
Did ya make it to the gym? Can't wait to hear.
Whoa, hold up...I didn't see Chili's on that menu list.
Yummy cookies~
Are you kidding me?? You went home and blogged after how late we got home? You are a true die-hard blogger. Seriously, you deserve an award.
You know me--the devil--I still say skip the gym! Hee hee. I know I'm wicked. That's why you love me.
Can't wait for Mimi to bring a sugar cookie to her favorite dance teacher. =)
How fun! I totally get the "fun filled Christmas-y plans" & the kids aren't quite as fun as you think they should be! Sorry, they are getting sickie!
I'm glad you got out it sounds like you needed it!
Take care!!
Oh & btw I have a present for you that Cecily & I bought for you & Tami! ha ha I need to bring it over to ya!
I'm betting that you dragged your preggo bootie out of bed 4 hours later and DID IT! You are just so ambitious like that. Can I just be you tonight? (That's a MB20 song)...LOL
My kids are just ornery...period. I wish they had a reason..but they don't. They're just grouchy. They MUST get that from their Dad.
Tam
I haven't done the cookie thing with my boys yet, maybe later this week. But you're right, why is it that we plan things and expect them to be perfect and then our kids have something different in mind? You're a great mom to do this!
Those cookies look yummy! My little one is coming down with something also... thanks to those parents who take their sick kids to nursery on Sunday. Poor baby.
Good luck at the gym, I know you went!
Crystal, I am finally mailing out Christmas Cards. Will you e-mail me your mailing address? provotornow@gmail.com Thanks!
UUUMM! Did I miss something? Did I miss the "knocked up" announcement? I knew I was slow, but this is really sad! Congrats!
I have had all sorts of fun Chrismassy crafts to do with the kids, but they are being so stinky that I dont want to even bother!
Hope your kids are feeling etter. We have some boogar noses going on here also. Tis the season!!!
Mimi is getting a little spoiled over there at your house. Today they got hand stamps instead of candy (Brian gave me a big lecture about how much candy I give to my dancers--oops) and Mimi said, "But Miss Wendi, don't you have any yummy treats for us today?"
Sorry about all of the stamps all over her arms. I needed them to practice their dance A LOT OF TIMES, and so I gave them a stamp every time they did the dance with a smile on their face. Hey--it worked, and it will wash off right?
Miss Crystal,
Where oh where have I been? Apparently I need to stop using Bloglines because I checked your actual blog today (as compared to reading thru bloglines) and I noticed a little baby dancing on the side. Hmmmmm what does that mean? A baby with a countdown. WAIT- did I miss something? HUH- you are prego? Did you make an announcement that I missed? That means you are about 3 months along or so???? Where oh where have I been? CONGRATS! And sorry for being lame if you announced it somewhere and I missed it.
P.s. I do like being busy (just to set the record straight). Hair missing from my head (from pulling it out) and all, I wouldn't want it any other way. :)
Hee hee, words out I see. Wasn't me.
If you keep baking and making crap everyday you'll have to go to the gym twice a day every day now that you're prego! Slow down girl! (Or at least start mailing all the yummy stuff out to your bloggy friends!)
Do you add a teaspoon or a tablespoon of mucus to those cookies?
Yum those cookies look good! Hope your kids get to feeling better soon.
Hey I'm SO oblivious to things and didn't notice your little announcement on your sidebar till now. Congrats girl!!! Hope you and Lima are doing well.
Those cookies look so fun and festive! I think your day was a lot like mine - accept, fajitas are hard to come by up here in Montreal! And escaping is impossible since Craig is out of town! If I had the chance though I would of so done the same thing! I hope to send your star box this week when we are in the states! Take care!
I made sugar cookies Sunday night.
Everyone had lots of fun. But i had to do all the clean up!!!!!!
