It is without shame that I state for the record that today I sported no green garb. I didn't whip up a festive green dinner. I didn't speak in brogue. There was no sighting of miniature green leprechaun footprints winding through my house. I did not color the kids' breakfast milk green. I went to help in Isabelle's classroom and when a cute little 1st grader pinched me, I glared at him.
I don't even own any green sprinkles.
What can I say? I'm Scottish. Bring on the haggis.
This blatant disregard for festivity is very unlike me. I love holidays! I love to build anticipation and celebrate and bake festive desserts! It just never enters my mind to do so on St. Patrick's day. I'll redeem myself at Eastertime.
Then again, maybe not; I don't even have an Easter dinner planned. Nary a course. Me! The compulsive list-maker, party-planner, food-whipper-upper, grocery list queen! No Easter food!
I always seem to lose my personality sometime during my 3rd trimester. I walk around like some sort of hollow-eyed zombie. So I think my usual personality is gone for now...not to be recovered until sometime in July. Maybe.

Too bad I don't have a third-trimester of anything to blame my bah-humbugness on. My kids reprimanded me for not having leprechaun's visit and leave assorted green treats around the house. Not that we've ever had a visit from the little greenies before, it's just that they discovered that OTHER moms do that kind of stuff. Bah.
Can't blame you. I wore one speck of green - a leaf, next to a 1/16th inch rose on a 1 inch bead. (But only so I could pinch the loser that pinched me first, JIC.)
My last trimester was spent entirely on the couch, sleeping in hour and a half increments, getting up only to pee, change the videotape, and retrieve small children from precarious positions (and that only if necessary. ReALly necessary.)
AH i don't "DO" St.Patty's day either. we aren't irish, why pretend.
i didn't even plan ahead green outfits for the chilluns, and tied a bow on so they wouldn't get pinched by overzealous brothers. i tied a bow on my shoe, but it didn't stop Lance from pinching me. darn it!
and as far as food goes? pancakes at McDonald's and mexican food for dinner. HA. and i don't buy St. Patty's decor either. I'm bah humbug on St. patty's every year. sometimes i 'think' it'd be cool to make fancy food or something. like green eggs, Or green pancakes. but lets be real, i never have probably never will. and I'm not prego, so what's my excuse?
I am SHOCKED that our "Queen of Sprinkles" doesn't own green ones! Here's a tip....I always buy extra green sprinkles for 50-70% off at xmas time to save for St. Patrick's Day. Not that we can't afford a jar of sprinkles but I always love a good deal!
I personally think it is CRAZY having St. Patrick's Day and Easter in the same week. At least you have a great excuse. Go relax and take care of yourself!
Hey no worries, I wore green for the first time in 5 years. It was by accident too. It was the only shirt that was clean and not wrinkled.
What's with the beating yourself up?! You are growing a human being in there! Grab the kids a green sprinkled donut at Krispie Kreme and call it good!
No green sprinkles???
**GASP***
I'm sure they're there somewhere. Look harder.
The best excuse in the book...pregnancy. I don't blame you for not planning Easter dinner, it's so darn early this year.
I know what you mean- I am so out of it that Quincy said, "Mom- we are suppose to wear all green today!" It didn't even register in my brain until the end of the day that it was St Patrick's Day! I guess I can blame it on my 7-week old and no sleep!
It's okay to be a bit bah humbug--women who are preggers get to behave ANY way they want, at lest in my book.
We didn't do anything fun or have leprechaun's visit. A. still doesn't know other moms do that, so I'm in the clear for a while.
My husband is British, so trust me when I tell you that we don't do St. Patrick's Day either!!
♥ We never do anything for st. patty's day either. It's not on my list of "important" hollidays! :)
It's OK we can still be friends even IF you slighted St. Patrick's day and the Irish! {I'm Irish :)} I'll forgive you and all of your non celebrating commentors!
OH MY....mine has been lost for about 3 months now...and there is no sight in end...and I am not even waiting for someone to arrive! Oh dear! nOW 3RD trimester...now you are really really forgiven for any thing really!
