Gasp! Heave! (and maybe a little bit of Hurl)

Hoo Boy. This afternoon I headed back to my new favorite running trail, the North Fork Road in the canyon. I was eager to run farther than I did on Friday and headed up today sans family.

Um, the trail is a tad bit steeper the farther up the canyon you go. Imagine. On Friday, my sweetly perfectly sloping trail looked like this:

And today, as I explored farther, it turned into THIS beast of a road: (!!!)It doesn't look like much in the two photos, but I assure you that IT WAS. I barely dragged my butt up and certainly didn't make it to the top. There were many off-road motorists ($#@%&) who were, for the most part (fie upon you, white Suburban!), very courteous to moi on foot.

I was gasping for breath in great gulps of air and finally gave in around Dutchman Flat. And I'm not going to reveal any names, but someone almost hurled. It was at that point that I decided to turn around and run down, trying very hard not to lose control on the downhill and run like Phoebe.

I used to run like Phoebe past my jogging instructor in college. He started out trying to instruct me, but once I did that, he just rolled his eyes a lot and smiled every once in a while.

That is why I gave up running in the 11th grade! Gasp! Heave! and maybe Hurl! I loved it SO much that I wrote a poem for my track coach about dying on the last turn of the 2 mile! I'd share it, but, alas, I wasn't smart enough to keep a copy and he has the only one {still in his desk at school-- I know this because Hosanna and Hokan have both had him as a teacher and or coach--- yup he's still there torturing, I mean training the young minds and bodies in history and running faster and longer than ANYONE should ever have to! :D

My husband is a runner and he is always trying to "train" me. He want someone to trail run with. I, on the other hand, don't run. I swim. I wish I could run like Phoebe, she runs fast. I am a gasper, heaver, not pretty runner.

I have seen you around the blogs so I decided to check you out, very cool site.

Those trails DO look steep and hard to run on, so that means they must have been even harder in real life. Way to go!

It's so funny that you posted this clip from Friends because I was just thinking about it at the gym the other day and was giggling to myself as I thought about it.
