You Are an Obsession

As the girls happily rolled dough into oblivion yesterday, I got a just a wee bit distracted by my sprinkles. What started out as me giving them a few bottles of sprinks with which to decorate became a full-blown exploration of my collection.

I sorted by color. I arranged by season. I sifted them through my fingers.

It's manic.

In the end, I lost track of what the girls were doing as I compulsively photographed. And photographed. I think they put themselves to bed.

I call this one "Still Life in Sprinkles."

Looking at the entire collection, though, I realize I may be running low.

Mike, if you're reading this: forget the presents of bling or the baubles that glitter, sprinkles are a girl's best friend!

What's a Little Mess?...

We frosted cookies yesterday for Family Night. Afterwards, I felt like one of the Three Stooges as I walked over the floor, slipping on sprinkles like Mo might've on marbles. (insert 3 Stooges sound effect here.)

Mimi gave her (puny) biceps a workout with the rolling pin.

Mimi would be pleased if you'd note that all her cookies are frosted pink AND sprinkled pink.

I like this shot because of the funny concentration mouths. (double-click for close up)
You should've seen the sprinkles flying!

When all was said and done, girls in bed & me in my jammies....I'd like you to know that I absolutely didn't eat this cookie. Really. Not even a bite.

"In Summer, the song sings itself."

- William Carlos Williams

A major benchmark of summer has come & gone, the Wallentine Family Camp.

Sniff.

Every year, upon returning home a grimy mess (i
s that me, or the car?), the rest of the summer takes on a slightly edgy undertone; the end is nearing.

Double-sniff.

So here we have my homage to Camp.

Isabelle does the rope swing...

...and so does Mike! (who knew he had it in him?)

Mimi charms the campfire crowd ("Goodnight People!")

We play the left/right game (an honored camp tradition)...

..and we clearly see who loves the game most.

The the kids have scads of fun all week...

...especially Julie's kids.
***Kidding, Julie! I'm secretly jealous of your PTA prowess!

See! Chris also does homework at camp!

Every year, though, my favorite moment by far is the chair circle before we pack it up.

This is a great family to be a part of. Especially if I never have to be in charge of camp.

Keepin' it Real,
Crystal

and so it begins...

I have a feeling I may have found a new addiction and no, it's not anything remotely related to cleaning. Unfortunately. Given the fact that I'm an abysmally bad scrapbooker (truthfully, I'd rather drink arsenic than scrapbook), I think I may be onto something with this blogging thing. So here it goes!

Testing, testing....
