Christmas Time is Here

I stood out in the frigid cold for a half hour, trying to get a good photo but my red & white candycane lights do not show up!

Last night for Family Home Evening we put up the tree. Actually, Mike put it up while I watched. He told me I'm not allowed to attempt it because I'd fall and break my arm. Considering my accident-prone nature, he's correct.

The ladder actually teetered during this maneuver. Good thing it wasn't ME up there!

I helped by snapping photos and making hot chocolate.

When he saw me happily snapping away, Mike said, "Are you actually blogging this?!" I replied, "Duh!" and then, "you better SMILE", you look a little frazzled."

He smiled. Yes, he DID. Look closely. You may have to click on the picture to enlarge it; he's not exactly effusive in his emotions.

Evidently, Sis is allowed on the ladder. But not me.

Typical Mimi. Can't you just hear the "Charlie Brown Christmas" music playing in the background as I type this? Because it is! I've been playing Christmas music now for at least a week. Next up: "A Muppet Christmas Carol!" The best Christmas movie ever.

***Do you have a favorite Christmas show?

*** Is your tree up yet?

***What’s your favorite Christmas music?

My mom always had a tradition of waiting until the day AFTER Thanksgiving so I just sort of do the same thing. No Christmas music or anything else Christmasy for me until after Thanksgiving has officially past. (Although I have most of my Christmas shopping all done.)

I must be boring. I don't have any favorite Christmas shows or Christmas music. I just love almost ALL Christmas music. (As long as it is after Thanksgiving. If it is before it just makes me grumpy. I'm such a fuddy duddy.)

Oh my, Christmas already? I'm so not ready for that yet!
But YOU GO GIRL! You are way ahead of the game!
I love 'A Christmas Story', it's my all time favorite Christmas movie I think.

There isn't much that Jon requests around here. He never expects dinner. He doesn't expect that. He does however hate it when stuff that should be in the garbage ends up in the sink and he wants Christmas to come after Thanksgiving.

In keeping with his Homer/300 pound guy/Chris-Farley-Fat-Guy-In-A-Little-Coat self, Thanksgiving is his favorite holiday. Food.

If it were up to me, the tree would already be up. I've been listening to Christmas music for about a week too.

Your tree and the window are gorgeous. Wow.

Oh, and my favorite Christmas movie goes with one of my favorite movie lines of all time.

"Fra-Geee-Lay. Must be French."

MY favorite line is: "Fracker flibbin hibbity jibbin fribbitum..." down in the boiler room!

Brian's favorite Christmas movie is "It's a Wonderful Life" (you've probably seen the poster hanging up in our bedroom) and mine is Scrooged. I love Bill Murray. He KILLS me.

And yes, lots of Christmas music going on at our house, especially in the basement as we are getting Christmas routines learned! As we speak I can hear my hip hop class and "Funky Christmas" over and over. NKOTB--remember that song? Oh, good times.

And I don't have my lights up yet, but it's apparent that the neighborhood contest/rivalry is in full swing--if you know what I mean.

I put my tree and Christmas stuff up the day after Thanksgiving, not before. I love the movie "White Christmas," but our new favorite Christmas movies are the Santa Claus(e) ones with Tim Allen. We started a new tradition last year that after we put up the tree, we watch The Santa Clause.

I have several favorite Christmas Albums, but my three are: Alabama's Christmas, Afterglow's Christmas and Vince Gill's Christmas Albums. My favorite Christmas song is "I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day" and no one ever sings it, and the only time they sing it at church is when Christmas is on Sunday. :(

wow yoru Christmas tree is beautiful. I like to think of it as " the Holidays" and lights and Christmas trees get me in the festive mood. I think its great to have your tree up. I don't think I'll put up my trees until after my daughters baptism or I'll never it everyone in my house.
My favorite movie is Mr. Krugers Christmas. It always makes me feel like I want to be kinder. I love it's a wonderful life too. I guess I need to watch some funnier ones! I usually end up watching Wiggle Christmas a hundred times. As for the music yes we are listening. I got a new CD at costco a 3 disc set and have been playing it as back ground music I like it.

One of my most favorite subjects... CHRISTMAS!
(By the way, LOVE the big tree by the window!)
Favorite movie has to be White Christmas. So wonderfully cheesy and romantic and lots of music!
No, my tree is not up yet, but a few other decorations have already snuck out of their boxes.
Favorite Christmas music... has to be the Osmond Family Christmas. Super old school, and lots of family memories from when it was on 8 track! However, the new Josh Groban CD is steadily climbing the ranks!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....

Oh man, now I'm really feeling behind. Actually, my hubby doesn't let me start putting up Christmas until the day after Thanksgiving. I get the boyO's up on the roof putting up the lights, while I deal with the tree inside.

I LoVE the Grinch!!! The original cartoony version is my all time favorite - hate Jim Carey.

Oh my gosh - what a great tree that you let Mike put up! Is this one of "Mike's" homes that he has built - I've heard great things about his homes and dang - the moulding alone is just amazing! You just don't get all the great detail (like you have in your home) living in p-town! Looks like you are living in my dream home!

I think it is great you guys are already decorated for Christmas - is your turkey cooked yet too?

Crystal, I just love your blog! I check in here at least every couple of days, and enjoy it so much. Your tree is gorgeous! How tall is it?

We don't put our tree up until after Thanksgiving.....I am trying (especially this year) really hard to focus on Thanksgiving and the fact that it is just as much a Christian holiday as Christmas or Easter. But we will put it up sometime the weekend after Thanksgiving.

Favorite Christmas movies.... most definitely "White Christmas", but my kids' and hubby's favorite is "Elf". I tend to lean more towards the traditional :)

I have many favorite Christmas songs, but probably my MOST favorite is Handel's Messiah, followed by a very close second of "O Holy Night" and who can keep a dry eye when singing "Silent Night" in Christmas Eve candlelight services! I really do love all (well, almost all) Christmas music (but again, I do lean more towards traditional).

Blessings!

Hey Crystal!!! I found your blog through Mike's comments on Scott's blog. Hope you don't mind. But I seriously think we should live by each other! After reading your blog, and finding your recipe blog! we are so much alike! I kept saying to myself, "Seriously? Seriously. Seriously? There is someone out there who thinks like I do?!" Pray that we find a job in UT!

OK, but I have to add that when I saw this post, I thought, "Man, she hasn't posted since last Christmas?" Then I realized it's Christmas '07. What's not to love.
