Today we all rushed out the door by 9am to get to the Annual Christmas Sing at Max's & Isabelle's school. It was so cute! Max even sang. He was supposed to wear a Sunday dress collared shirt but was balking, insisting that he'd "look like an idiot." So I made him a deal: wear what you want if you'll just SING, for heaven's sake. It worked, evidently. No pictures, just video--which I have yet to figure out how to load from my camcorder. ( who's the idiot?...)
Then I bustled to the post office to get stamps and then to the grocery to pick up a few things. I hate going to just get a few items! I'm a fan of the once-a-week trip. By the time we got home, I thought I was going to pass out I was so hungry. I've found I need to eat once an hour--I'm absolutely RAVENOUS once an hour! I've forgotten how much hard work my body is doing to knit together a human in there!
So that was my mom-morning from 9am-12pm. BUT! I did drag myself out of bed at 4:50am to go the gym. I could not allow another day to go by without a workout. I have been a total slug. (i haven't worked out for 10 straight days...shhhh) I haven't missed more than 2 days in many, many months! The blame lies strictly with the Hallmark Channel. I've been staying up late & watching cheesy Christmas specials after the kids go to sleep. Well, and FoodNetwork Christmas cooking shows. Delightful! So today felt good. But I'm hammered; I didn't get to sleep last night until 11pm.
Now Mimi has her favorite friend over to play; it's my Wednesday Watch Day. I love our babysitting trade!
Watch for a yummy recipe post later!
Naptime. They can jump around me on the couch. Zzzzzzzzz.....
p.s. I need ideas for easy Christmas Day dinner! We're doing a huge feast on Christmas Eve at Mike's parents' house, but I want Christmas day to be low-key and easy, but still a little special.
**WHAT ARE YOU MAKING?

Hi. I found you off my sister, Erin's, blog. I'm just a little more pregnant than you (if that's even correct grammar) by about a week. I totally agree about the eating every hour, but I've found that I can't eat any of the stuff I love because of heartburn. Hopefully, you are still able to enjoy good food and not have it come back to haunt you!
That kniting a human together is hard work. Start carrying some crackers or something with you. You are my hero for exercising while being pregnant.
We're doing ham, mac n cheese, green bean casserole. Nothing really easy, but nothing to difficult.
Can't wait for the yummy recipe later!!
Hi, I'm so glad you stopped by my blog :)
I've added you to my blogroll, this one and your cooking blog too, love all the recipes you have on there :)
Congratulations on the little munchkin :)
On Christmas night I'm thinking about making a nice healthy dinner of candycanes, Grandma's fudge and maybe some cheetos. Oh, and an orange or two for Vitamin C.
Really, I'll probably make breakfast for dinner. Omletes and toast and bacon. It's a favorite around here and something I know my kids will eat even if they are still on Christmas Day crack and wound tighter than a drum.
Kudos to you for working out, by the way!
I don't know how you're able to get yourself out of bed at 4:50 in the morning, I consider that the middle of the night still.
Congrats on your pregnancy! I think it's cruel that pregnant women have to do anything other than lie around growing a baby. It's exhausting! It cracks me up that you get ravenous once an hour.
ok, seriously, how/when did i miss the big announcement?????? need to get caught up...
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!
on the Christmas dinner, i will tell you I keep it easy peasy for the day of Christmas b/c we will be eating a big dinner with the in-laws on Sunday. THen another big dinner on Sat the 29th. THen another one on Jan 8. (oy) We are just the 4 of us on Christmas day so it will be Sausage Lasagna, as voted by the family this weekend. Yay for me since it is easy and YUM.
I will love to see what others are suggesting...
Our dinner's coming straight out of Barefoot Contessa Family with the roast lamb and red potatos, corn pudding(cause we're in the south, and i want to try something southern), green beans and shallots...that's as far as I've gotten. Hopefully my brother Jimmy will come down with his family, so he'll bring an amazing dessert of some kind I'm sure. Christmas Eve will be low key. Maybe we'll do the breakfast for dinner thing.
I was stunned to read you got up at 4:50 to go to the gym. That's impossible enough for me when I'm NOT with child. Wow, I'm truly in awe.
Oh, back to Ina...try the mac and cheese recipe. Made it last night...to die for!!!
Good for you for your mom morning at school and making it to the gym. No more Hallmark Sappy Channel for you sister! :)
How about a roast in the crock pot? I've been hooked on pork roasts lately. On Christmas Day I do a brunch/breakfast thing, low key, and not really a holiday meal blow out.
Ok, I can't get out of bed at 7:00 and I'm NOT PREGNANT! You amaze me!
I always do a roast on Christmas day. We're starting a new Christmas Eve tradition of BBQ though...we like snow BBQ here in Idaho.
Good job on the pregnant workouts! Sorry about your future/current migraine.
I'd love to hear your Christmas plan, we are doing dinner here again and I SPENT THE WHOLE DAY IN THE KITCHEN LAST YEAR and refure to do it again.
I am so glad that someone else likes the cheesy hallmark channel Christmas shows. I not only watch those, but ABC family's 25 days of christmas and lifetimes cheesy Christmas shows plus the foodnetwork christmas specials. It is really difficult to watch all 4channels at the same time!:)
Every Christmas and Thanksgiving since before I was born, my dad made cooked German Red Cabbage (Rotkraut). We have a special family recipe for it. If it peaks your interest, I'll give you the recipe.
we are doing the un-traditional Christmas dinner at our house this year. i think i may make chicken and dumplings or put a pot roast in the crockpot. then everyone can bring their favorite side. i want it to be easy-peasy for me!
gym at 4:50?? holy cow. i get mad if i'm woken up before 7. AND im ravenous every hour too...but not pregnant. i hope. ;)
We're eating with the in-laws and I only have to bring rolls! ;)
I excerised daily with my first and gained as much weight as I later did with the twins! Needless to say, I gave up "working out" while pregnant! You go Girl! :)
Okay girlie! For Christmas Eve, we mainly do appetizer type things. I do cheese balls & cracker, Pepper Jelly & crackers, Little Smokies, Dick Cavett (a bread fondue), I'm also doing a Turkey, for sandwhiches.
Nothing too special, just our traditional crap.
Christmas Day my sister in law is hosting & we usually do a ham, funeral potatoes, jello salads, etc...
I have a great shrimp dip recipe too! Yum!!
